AppAssit was created to help hardware servicing engineers install data backup appliance hardwares at data centers. Data centers are extremely noisy environment, and sometimes do not have network connections due to security reasons. AppAssist mobile app helped service engineers quickly find the right information they were looking for at the time they needed on hand, even if there was no internet connection. The final design was a video-centric experience with all the micro-scenes indexed as a list for easy findability. A Medium article titled Not so fancy (but meaningful) enterprise UX work was published in 2020 covering this project.
Videos were broken down and indexed into micro-scenes for easy findability and scannability of specific content, so that hardware servicing engineers can quickly find what they want as they work at data centers under time constrains.
Each category was broken down into micro-scenes. Every micro-scene had a thmbnail and a short description.
While most hardware servicing engineers used their smartphones, tablet version provided a better experience via comfortable viewing and scrolling.
